This function is safeguarded by a fundamental duty of non-discriminatory public service, similar to the long-standing “common carrier” principle, where access cannot be denied based on political considerations. When dockworkers contemplate selectively halting trade based on a shipment’s destination, they subordinate the institution’s primary function to an external political agenda. This politicization turns logistical hubs into battlegrounds. Our mission is to preserve the neutrality and resilience of such institutions, ensuring they are shielded from political manipulation.
