Central to our mission is an unwavering commitment to neutrality, ensuring that our work, assessing politicization risks, providing policy solutions, and mediating conflicts, remains impartial, fair, and free from ideological bias. 

This Neutrality Policy outlines the principles, procedures, and accountability measures that guide our operations to maintain both actual and perceived neutrality, fostering trust among stakeholders and the public.

We recognize that in polarized environments, perceptions of bias can arise from issue selection, media portrayal, or stakeholder reactions. To counter these risks, we pledge to embed transparency, objectivity, and inclusivity into every facet of our work, from research and assessments to communications and partnerships. – Standardized Assessment Tools: The Resilience to Politicization Barometer will use publicly available, evidence-based criteria to assess risks of politicization in institutions (e.g., universities, courts). These criteria will include measurable indicators such as frequency of speech-related conflicts, diversity of invited speakers, governance transparency, and adherence to fair procedures. The methodology will be published and updated annually based on stakeholder feedback.

– Diverse Case Selection: When selecting institutions for Barometer assessments or Toolkit interventions, we will ensure a balanced mix of contexts (e.g., progressive-leaning, conservative-leaning, or neutral institutions). A documented rationale for case selection will be published alongside each project to demonstrate impartiality.Independent Validation: All Barometer results and Toolkit recommendations will be reviewed by an independent auditor or advisory panel with diverse ideological representation to ensure objectivity. Audit reports will be made available to the public upon request.

 

2.2. Balanced Issue Engagement

 

– Defending Free Speech Across Perspectives: We will actively support free speech and institutional neutrality in cases involving all ideological viewpoints. For example, we will defend the rights of both progressive and conservative voices facing censorship or institutional bias, ensuring equal attention to each.

– Broad Issue Scope: To prevent overemphasis on polarizing topics (e.g., cancel culture), we will address a range of issues, including governance transparency, fair hiring practices, and open dialogue initiatives, to appeal to diverse audiences and reduce perceptions of agenda-driven work.

– Case Documentation: Each intervention (e.g., mediation, policy recommendation) will be documented with a public summary outlining the issue, our approach, and the outcome, ensuring transparency and balance in our work.

For example, we will frame our work as “promoting open discourse” or “ensuring institutional fairness.”

– Proactive Media Engagement: To counter media distortion, we will issue detailed reports and FAQs with each major project, clarifying our methodology and intent.

– Amplifying Neutral Voices: We will partner with respected, nonpartisan figures (e.g., academics, journalists) to comment on our work, lending credibility and countering polarized narratives.
